We love the connection between dogs and babies. When a baby enters the family, dogs already see it as part of the household - a tiny, fragile, and smol part to be defended, protected, and cherished. Dogs really do understand the concept of babies, or in their mind, “A tiny hooman, like my big hoomans, but it's a smol one.
